And yes, for a new mother to experience postpartum PTSD, she is likely either to have had a traumatic birth experience (such as medical interventions, emergency c-sections, problems with the health of the baby and the like) or to have perceived or felt as if her birth experience was traumatic. I think this mom’s experience clearly qualifies.
It is very informative blog.
I had a similar experience with my midwives. HORRIBLE! They knew nothing about PPD and treated me like a leper because I couldn't breastfeed. They didn't even invite us to the annual picnic.
I also had issues buring my childbirth. The maternity ward was filled and everyone went into labor at the same time, one woman was having twins and there were complications, I had a panic attack during labor, and the one doctor at my OB's I had never met was the one delivering my baby. And he was so overwhelemed that he got annoyed that I was taking "so long" (an hour and a half of pushing) and ended up giving me a little Pitocin to speed things up. Thankfully my baby is very healthy. Definitely could have had a better experience.
