I just took a very long nap (needed one after yesterday) and woke to find this tweet from AOL News editor Mike Nizza:
@postpartumprogr :as editor of @aolnews, I'd like to sincerely thank you and your followers. that's not what we're about, period. #postpartum
Good for him. Thank you Mike for noticing us, and thank you for recognizing that yesterday's article was not a good representation of AOL News. I truly appreciate that. In the future, if you need help getting experts for an article related to perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, just ask us and we'll be happy to help. That are a lot of great professionals out there.
Good for you! Pat yourself on the back my friend and in the name of fellow PPD survivors everywhere – THANK YOU.
Wow – someone taking responsibility. That's awesome. I had hoped yesterday's firestorm would have some positive effect on the media, and maybe it just did. One person. It's a place to start.
I'm choking up a little reading the AOL guys Tweet. Wow!
Glad to see that someone is willing to acknowledge the mistake. Good work, Katherine!
YAY! I never underestimate the power of Twitter. Never.
I'm so glad for this. He (they) could have swept it under the rug but didn't. Classy guy, that Mike.
Great news, great work, as always, Katherine! And here's to the power that Twitter and the sisterhood of PPD survivor mamas!
YES! I wasn't sure if they'd step and say anything but I am VERY impressed. Amazing what a little support in numbers can do. Way to get it going, Katherine!
Hey – thank you Mr. Nizza for acknowledging that it was poor reporting, next time ask an expert, not someone who is uneducated and sophisticated about mental health.
Congrats, Kat!
