Oprah wants you.

Yes, that Oprah.

The Oprah Show is looking for stories from moms who have or have had postpartum depression.

Now, let me say that this is, of course, a ridiculouslyenormous opportunity for any mom to share her story and help others. If you are currently suffering, though, I just want to make sure you think through putting yourself on national television in your current state. For some of you, that might be fine. For others, it's possible you could regret sharing that part of your life so publicly later.

I have a policy, as do PSI and most advocates of women with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, of not giving out the names of people who are currently suffering becauseI want to avoid the possibility that they will be exploited. We are always striving to get the media to show that women recover and go on to be great mothers, rather thantheir continuousportrayals ofwomen who are at theirLOWEST point (not that that is what The Oprah Show plans to do).

So, that said, if you want a chance to be on Oprah– Yes. I know. Oprah! — then click here.
