We already know that women who suffer a miscarriage are at a higher risk of developing postpartum depression. A studyjust published inthe journal General Hospital Psychiatry bears this out. It found that 13% of the women in Hong Kong who have a miscarriage ended up suffering from postpartum depression (10%), anxiety (1.2%), PTSD (0.6%)or OCD (0.6%).

This is just one more reason why we can't wait around until after women have babies and start feeling lousy to educate them about postpartum mood disorders.
Thanks! It's not just after miscarriage, stillbirth or regular pregnancy with happy outcomes that women can develop PPD/PPOCD etc… It's also possible after abortion. Something that is never talked about and if untreated can lead to disastrous birth outcomes in the future.
