This is a nice post from the blog All That Naz in which she shares the well-rounded plan of attack she used to recover from her postpartum mood disorder. This included medication, counseling, prayer, diet and lifestyle changes, support groups and more! She serves as a great example that there is no one magic pill for getting better, and that it is often most effective if you address the mind, spirit AND the body in your journey to recovery.
Also, here is a link to a book review from Stop, Drop and Blog, where she talks about how different authors' styles and recommendations can truly heighten the anxiety of someone who has had a postpartum mood disorder and still suffers from anxiety. It's so true that a lot of these books and child development/parenting experts just serve to make me feel worse about myself as a mom, which is something I DO NOT NEED. That's why you should check out Ann Dunnewold's book "Even June Cleaver Would Forget the Juice Box." She presented at the PSI conference last week and did such a great job in reminding us how we are bombarded with messages from the media about being the perfect mom.
