The Arizona Guardian reports that Democratic State Senator Linda Lopez of Tucson, Arizona, will introduce a resolution encouraging healthcare providers to do more toinform new mothers on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders like postpartum depression.
"Ideally, she'd want a broader measure that would educate new mothers and their families, healthcare providers and medical school instructors about the disorder and the services available for it.
But, Lopez said, a resolution will have to do. 'We're not asking for anything that would require money this year,' she said."
The Arizona Postpartum Wellness Coalition is involved in this project as well.
