I know I should probably just leave this alone, but it's Friday and I can't help myself. Did you know it could be Pluto's fault that you have postpartum depression? This from an astrologer at Tarot.com:
"My own Moon was pummeled by Pluto at the time of my bout with postpartum. Sure enough, when [Gwyneth] Paltrow’s son was born she was going through a difficult transit of Pluto square her natal Moon."
And Brooke Shields?
She "… also had a stressed out Moon during her postpartum phase. In her case, transiting Neptune was conjunct her Moon in Aquarius located in her 5th house, which is associated with children."
Researchers, put down your survey questions and blood draws. We've found the answer. Eureka.
(wink, wink)
Hi Katherine,
I am a big fan of your site, passion, wisdom and critical insights into all things postpartum. But this post made me sad, when I am usually inspired by your blog. I went back and read the astrologer's post and clearly, this woman's belief system helped her cope with her postpartum depression. Astrology might not work for you or me, and certainly is NOT the solution to perinatal mood disorders, but doesn't she deserve more respect as a fellow Warrior Mom? Isn't part of supporting women respecting their belief systems? I turn to your website for a clear-minded, strength-based approach to PPD and this Friday morning find myself disappointed to find you publishing sarcastic comments about the experience of a woman who has found a way to make sense of her painful experience. I guess I have really high standards for you, for better or worse! Is it unrealistic to expect something constructive with every post?
With respect,
A faithful fan
Sorry. I guess sometimes the snark comes out. Hate to disappoint you.
