I just got the official letter from Depression After Delivery in the mail last week. Due to financial constraints, they are closing their national office as of November 30. They will no longer have a toll-free information request line, but still plan to keep their website (www.depressionafterdelivery.com) up and running. It’s disappointing that this has happened, but we can be grateful for everything the organization was able to do, and glad that some DAD resources will still continue on.

If HR 846 had been passed, it would not have come to this. Carol Blocker met four weeks ago with those on the bill's committee to "hear" the case for HR 846 passage. However, the 108th Congress decided it did not have time to place the bill on its docket this session. Depression After Delivery could have had necessary funding to keep everything they've gained since 1985 if HR 846 had passed even one year ago; grants available through Bill HR 846 would have made a big difference for DAD's continued success. Ironically, in the state of Pennsylvania the slot machine bill passed in the same session that it was introduced, while a bill that would safeguard mothers and their families is now entering its fourth year toward just getting acknowledged as a medical priority? Perhaps its time to start an email petition? "Always A Mother" D.A.Gray
