Helena Bradford of the Ruth Rhoden Craven Foundation sent me the link to this story about Gov. Cody’s wife, Mary Jo. I knew you’d be interested in reading it, so here it is: . Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
By the way, I’ll be at Helena’s 3rd Annual 5k Run/Walk for Postpartum Depression Awareness on February 26 in Charleston, and I hope to meet some of you there.
Thanks Katherine for listing this article!
I am the Coordinator of Mental Health Ministries for the California-Pacific Conference of the United Methodist Church. I speak nationally to erase the stigma of mental illnes is our faith communities and have produced television quality videos and DVD's on a variety of mental health issues. (see my website at http://www.MentalHealthMinistries.net
We are currently seeking funding to do a video resource for pastor's to use when doing Baptismal instruction for parents. It would focus on the emotional issues surrounding pregancy and childbirth with a focus on educating clergy and new families about post partum depression.
I have read a couple articles sharing Mrs. Codey's efforts. My question is, Do you have any materials that would be appropriate to include in a packet to educate clergy to be alert to post partum depression in their congregations?
Thank you so much,
Rev. Susan Gregg-Schroeder

Hi—I'm Tom Davis, a reporter and columnist with The Record in New Jersey. I've met the Codeys, and I've always appreciated the fact that they were able to speak out as much as they did, without fear of political retribution. In my blog, I addressed her situation and how Congress has taken steps to bring attention to postpartum depression.
